Lafayette Cabinets is the local brand of Woodkraftz LLC, a Louisiana cabinet supply and installation business serving Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana region.

Meet Kevin Katz
Kevin Katz spent 23 years as a Fire Captain with St. Tammany Parish before retiring — but the truth is, he never really stopped working a second trade. Through every shift cycle, he was also a cabinet contractor on the side, building custom range hoods, kitchens, and one-off pieces for clients across south Louisiana. When retirement finally came, the cabinet work didn’t slow down. It became the main thing.
Today, Kevin runs Woodkraftz LLC — operating as Lafayette Cabinets — with a different mission than the custom shop days. The high-end one-off range hoods are now occasional projects. The everyday work is helping local contractors, homeowners, and investors get quality cabinets at honest prices and predictable timeframes. Because after decades on both sides of the trade — building cabinets and watching customers get squeezed by suppliers who didn’t care — he knew Lafayette deserved a local source that did.
His approach is straightforward. Contractors get tiered trade pricing that respects their margins — up to 40% off retail at higher volumes, with no nickel-and-diming. A Louisiana native of 35+ years, Kevin moved to Lafayette two years ago — pulled here, like a lot of grandparents are, by the grandkids. He and his wife of 33 years split their time between work, family, and the occasional grandparent kidnapping. When he’s not running Lafayette Cabinets, you’ll find him at his Tuesday morning BNI chapter, on the water trying (and frequently failing) to outsmart a redfish, or behind the smoker with a brisket and a longer-than-it-should-be timeline.
